Location

Once widely known as a destination for retirees, Scottsdale has transformed into one of the country’s most visited cities. Located in the Phoenix metropolitan area, Scottsdale has proximity to other areas, including downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, and Mesa. Although there are many surrounding communities, if you’ve decided to stay put in Scottsdale, you’ve made a great decision. The city of Scottsdale is known as the “West’s Most Western Town”. Visitors can browse a high concentration of local boutiques in Old Town Scottsdale. The stores range from high-end brands and local boutiques to antique shops and upscale jewelry. Sprinkled among the shops are local restaurants, including flavors from Mexico, Italy, Japan, and more.

Within the city of Phoenix are the Phoenix Mountains, a dream attraction for the outdoor enthusiast and avid hikers. Although some mountain peaks can be difficult to reach, the mountain range offers hikes for a variety of skill levels. With an elevation of 2,704, hiking Camelback Mountain offers unmatched views of the entire city. There are two trails you can take to the top – Echo Canyon and Cholla. Both trails are difficult but Echo Trail is steeper and Cholla is longer. Regardless of which trail you chose, both end with beautiful views. Be sure to bring plenty of water on your hike and to travel with a buddy.

Dining

Scottsdale is a luxury destination and it’s visible in its selection of restaurants. From modern Italian restaurants, sleek lounges, and traditional Mexican food, Scottsdale offers guests an impeccable menu. One of the most sought-after restaurants in Scottsdale is AZ88 and for good reason. This sleek bar is widely known for its martinis, seasonal art installations, and juicy burgers. If you plan on visiting this Scottsdale staple, keep in mind that the restaurant accepts no reservations and the wait can take hours depending on what time you visit.

As needed as a great martini can be, there’s nothing like kicking back an ice-cold beer, steak fries, and hanging out with friends. Although there are many spots in town you can do this, there’s no place like O.H.S.O. Brewing & Distillery. This dog-friendly hot spot features more than 40 beers on tap and a delicious menu of appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
